People hear “retired” and assume the next sentence is a side hustle. Mine usually is not. I have a military pension and a police pension. That is the floor. Anything else is extra, and it has to be easy to quit.

So when somebody asks for my favorite side hustle ideas, I am not talking about dropshipping or a mystery box. I am talking about things that already sit next to the life I have.

The first one is the YouTube channel I started. Dusty Retirement Journey. Rides, the road, stuff I fix, the ordinary parts of being retired. I already shoot it. I edit in Descript, but the point was never the app. The point is one video when I have something worth saying. Not a content calendar. Not a personal brand. If a stranger learns something from a ride report or a repair, that is the hustle. If I do not feel like posting, it waits.

The second one is writing down a trade I actually ran. I mess with income ETFs and options trading. My brother and I talk about that stuff. I am not interested in a course, a Discord, or being anybody’s guru. I spent enough years around ego, gossip, and stories that were not true. A one-page note is different. Here is the spread. Here is what I risked. Here is where I was wrong. The second it needs a group to sell to, I am out.

The third one is the bike, but only the paper part. I ride a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700. I have done an Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000. Other Voyager guys will read a route note, a packing list, or a “this broke at mile 600” writeup. That can be a small product. The Patriot Guard rides are not a product. Those are escorts for fallen service members. They stay volunteer.

I also run a private DayZ server for a few people. That is a hobby. I won’t charge for it.

What I skip is anything that needs a fresh audience before the first dollar, and anything that needs me in a group chat. I stepped off Facebook, Instagram, and Threads on purpose. I am not trying to build a crowd. A side hustle should fit on the kitchen table twice a month. If I cannot stop it on a Tuesday without owing somebody an explanation, it is a second job. I already retired from one of those.
